Captain Explorer Duck Tour review

Updated on:

On a recent trip to Singapore, I was looking for a fun family activity that also allowed taking in sights. We discovered the exciting Captain Explorer Duck Tour – an amphibious boat-bus combo that provides a quackin’ half-land, half-water excursion.

Touring Singapore by road and river on the remodelled WWII DUKW proved a wet and wild adventure!

Quacking Up on Land

We arrived at the distinctive Duck Tour bus with its quirky exterior paint job, feeling eager for our adventure to commence. After climbing aboard the bright yellow amphibian and getting acquainted with our lively skipper, we set off on an engaging drive around old Singapore’s Civic District.

The captain expertly navigated narrow streets while pointing out landmarks like City Hall, the Padang, Supreme Court and old Parliament House, mixing in humorous quips. Seeing Singapore’s heritage sites from the road first provided helpful orientation.

Hitting the Waves

Just as we were getting used to the bus, our captain yelled “Hold on tight!” as we plunged straight into the Singapore River! With a small splash, we effortlessly floated and continued gliding along, now with waterside views of Boat Quay and Clarke Quay.

The breeze felt refreshing as we peacefully sailed past the skyscrapers, making waves with passersby along the promenade who waved and chuckled. Our captain extended our river journey, allowing us take in sights like the Merlion statue from the novel perspective.

An Unforgettable Amphibious Adventure

After about 40 minutes, we pulled back onto land, reveling in this unique amphibious experience. From start to end, Captain Explorer’s Duck Tour delivered enjoyment, orientation, education and fun for the whole family.

Touring Singapore by road and water gave us memorable perspectives and insights unattainable on regular city tours. Driving off into the sunset, we quacked up just thinking about the wet and wild ride we’d taken by land and sea on the delightfully kitschy Duck bus!
