Changi Experience Studio review

Zhuang Jia Wen

The Changi Experience Studio is an interactive exhibition located within Jewel Changi Airport that brings Singapore’s compelling history and culture to life through immersive shows and multimedia displays. As someone interested in Singapore’s past, I knew I had to visit this attraction during my recent layover at Changi Airport.

Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the incredibly realistic projections and attention to detail throughout the space. The exhibitions use a mix of life-size projections, dynamic props, sound effects, animations and colorful visuals to recreate different scenes and events from Singapore’s past. It really feels like you’re walking right into another time and place – whether it’s the hustle of historic Singapore streets, the British surrender in 1942 or the prosperous 1960s.

Some of the most engaging parts of the Experience Studio for me were the vintage Singapore hawker center, where I could hear sizzling woks and smell the wafting aromas of chicken rice and curry, as well as the poignant Changi Murals gallery. The replicas of the murals painted by POWs during WWII were very moving to see up-close.

I also enjoyed watching the short films in the mini cinema that featured oral histories and perspectives from people who lived through the periods being depicted. This provided personal context that brought the experiences to life even more vividly.

Overall, I was extremely impressed by how immersive and educational Changi Experience Studio is. In just a couple of hours, I gained a much deeper understanding of Singapore’s rich heritage through the decades. I highly recommend visiting this attraction if you have time during a layover or visit to Singapore. It’s a memorable and inspiring experience.
